Catabolism of nuclear proteins in control and phytohemagglutinin-stimulated human lymphocytes, leukemic leukocytes, and Burkitt lymphoma cells.

چکیده
Sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS)-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of nuclear non-histone proteins extracted with 0.15 and 0.30 M NaCl from human normal lymphocytes or leukemic leukocytes indicated a lack of bands in the highermolecular-weight regions of the gels. However, the corre sponding fractions from phytohemagglutinin-stimulated lymphocytes and Burkitt lymphoma cells did contain highmolecular-weight protein bands. Moreover, high-molecu lar-weight bands were present in the non-histone protein fraction extracted with 1% SDS:4 M urea ("tightly bound"

متن کاملCharacterization of human leukemia and Burkitt lymphoma cells by their acidic nuclear protein profiles.
The content of the acidic nuclear proteins in various types of human leukemia cells, normal lymphocytes, and Burkitt lymphoma cells grown in tissue culture has been examined. Human leukemias could be distinguished from each other and from other tissues by the banding pattern of the acidic nuclear proteins observed with sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The banding profi...
متن کاملLipid patterns in human leukocytes maintained in long-term culture.
The lipid composition of leukocytes maintained in long-term culture was examined in order to clarify the role of immaturity in previously observed differences between normal mature leukocytes and leukemic cells. Cell cultures derived from three types of leukocytes were examined: normal lymphocytes, Burkitt lymphoma, and chronic myelocytic leukemia. Lipid extracts were analyzed for total lipid w...
متن کاملLow-molecular-weight peptide inhibits RNA synthesis in human leukemic and phytohemagglutinin-stimulated leukocytes and globin mRNA transcription in differentiating Friend cells.
The RNA synthesis of human leukemic leukocytes and phytohemagglutinin-stimulated lymphocytes is markedly reduced by administration of a low-molecular-weight nonhistone peptide factor from calf thymus. Treatment with the factor strongly inhibits hemoglobin production and globin mRNA transcription in dimethyl sulfoxide-stimulated Friend cells without appreciably modifying the rate of cell growth....
